Shaming in Gaming

So, on the Sex Positive Gaming Discord, someone put up a link to a reaction video, which I then found the original video in Youtube they were reacting to and watched it. It is titled “The Secret Adult Gaming Platform That’s Bigger Than Steam” by Belinda Ercan, and no, I’m not linking to it, because I don’t think she needs, or deserves, the clicks. Here’s why.
Let’s spoil the first part, the Adult Gaming Platform is Nutaku, which is pretty much the 800lb Gorilla in the adult gaming market, because basically, they make Pay-to-Win Mobile-like Games with Tits in them, or Penis’s, ’cause they try to catch all demographics. And the big, deep, dark secret she reveals is that Nutaku is owned by, and had their rise funded by, Aylo, aka MindGeek, aka Pornhub’s owners. *gasp* *shock* *shame*
Honestly, I might have put this up elsewhere just because it was some interesting journalism in some parts, but the JUDGMENT radiating off this woman was overwhelming. While she kept a professional speaking voice most of the time, the disgust was evident. Even her attempts at a bit of dirty wordplay came off as “I’m making this joke to show how stupid and juvenile this all is.”. When she mentions Nutaku featured a few porn stars in their games, the only video she shows is a clip of one star saying that she believes incest should be legal as long as no babies are made. And, of course, she has to make sure to emphasize Pornhub getting in trouble over revenge and underage porn, and presents their investment in Nutaku as an attempt as a name-scrubbing rebrand rather than what it is most likely, an attempt to make more money in an underserved adult market.
And then she has the audacity to mock the fact that the Nutaku LinkedIn account does not say what the company does. Well, lady, it’s because of you! You’ve been shaming, making disgusted faces, and talking down the entire video while trying to hide it with a professional facade. I don’t know if this is an act. Maybe it is. Maybe you actually have a healthy relationship with sexual entertainment. Then it’s even worse that you feel you have to act disgusted and put off by the content in order to appear correctly in society. Because you’re not helping anyone but the prudes.
