BeelzeRog Nude Mod Review 34: Half-Life 2 & Episodes 1 & 2

Half-Life 2 is the groundbreaking 2004 sequel to a legendary groundbreaking game, Half-Life, from 1998. Both by Valve Corporation, now mostly known for the video game platform, Steam. Half-Life itself broke ground by successfully integrating storytelling into the gameplay, rather than using cut scenes or walls of text. And Half-Life 2 continued that trend, while also showing off the physics available in the new Source game engine.
Rini: So was Half-Life 1 actually the first game to do that?
It’s not really the first game to do that, but it’s like one of the most popular games to do that.
Rini: Instead of the old Wing Commander cut scene thing, right?
Well, and that, or a wall of text in DOOM, or Wolfenstein, or, you know, plenty of these other games. It integrated it, because if you don’t pay attention, you could miss stuff.
Rini: Right.
In Half-Life 2, you again play as Dr. Gordon Freeman. Revived by mysterious forces 20 years after the events of the first game, into a future where an extra-dimensional force known as the Combine has taken over the Earth. His arrival and rejoining his Black Mesa counterparts, now resisting the Combine’s occupation, sparks the conflict that pushes events forward through the end of the game, plus two sequel episodes, simply named Episode 1, released in 2006, and Episode 2, released in 2007. We’ll be dealing with all three parts.
Rini: Phantom Freeman Episode 1.

I’ve been wanting to do the Half-Life series for a while, but ran into a problem. The first game is old enough that some of the nude mods available for it have disappeared into the ether, just a bunch of broken links from Wayback Machine archive pages. So if someone can find a model named Playmate, which renders the hologram of one of the few women in the first game, Gina, nude, I’d appreciate it.
Rini: Pretty, please.
I have a few other nude mods, but that would be the most meaningful one. Meantime, I figured I might as well do Half-Life 2 with the 20th anniversary having come and gone. One annoying thing is that Valve has been incrementally updating Half-Life 2 since its release. This means that some of the mods have broken.
Rini: Are they still updating it?
Yes.
Rini: Wow.
They do little tweaks that they will put out.
Rini: Really?
Yeah.
Rini: Oh, well, that’s kind of good for them, actually.
This means that some of the mods have broken, as I found out getting footage for this video. There’s others that rely on modder FakeFactory’s Cinematic Mod, which, honestly, I’m not interested in adding that bloatware to my system.
Rini: It’s like Arthmoor. He did the Unofficial Patch for Skyrim, but he just went in and did a crazy amount of quote-unquote “fixing the game” where he thought it needed fixing and just added an obnoxious amount of bloatware. Don’t use Arthmoor’s mods.
There’s also been a few that are on the German nude mod forum, Nudefix.de, which have been stored in EXE format.
Rini: Hmm.
Which set off my old internet senses. No virus, thank you.
Rini: Rootkit incoming.
Also a quick note that the Vortex mod managing software from Nexus Mods has a Half-Life 2 plugin. However, I found some of the more finicky mods are better installed by hand, which involves creating a folder named “custom” in the HL2 folder, then going into that folder and creating another folder named “my_custom_stuff”. The mods that are individual parts go there. The mods with VPK extensions go in the custom folder. Another note is that many of these mods are available on the site Gamebanana. I’ll be sure to let you know which ones are not.
Let’s start off with some of the side character mods first. The first Combine you run into is the Metro Cops. Spice them up with Topless Female Metro Cop by OhHeyAThrowawayAccount with the original model by themmy4501.
Going up the ranks, we have Haydee as Combine Soldiers [NSFW] by CheeseboiNo with modeling by KabalMystic and DarkAngel. This replaces the Combine Soldiers, Elites, and Prison Guards with an exaggerated model of the cyborg character Haydee from the game of the same name by Haydee Interactive. The characters have armor plating, but damage and death will leave them exposed. The Prison Guards are marked with yellow arm and the Elites are in black. You can pick and choose which ones you want to replace.
If you’d prefer, however, you can have Haydee be the Headcrab Zombies instead with Nude Haydee Zombie by CheeseboiNo back with modeling by KabalMystic and DarkAngel, which replaces all of the zombies with the Haydee model. Of course, these are much more horrific than the Combine Soldier version.
If you’re tired of the Haydee models, there is Female Headcrab Nude by Tonyhuh_h. This changes all of the Headcrab Zombies to naked females using the body of the Witch Zombie from Left 4 Dead, which was modeled by Former Helpful Tucket.

If you’re a fan of the SCP lore, we’ve got SCP-1471-MAL.0 by CumminHam and GeneralEcchi. This changes the Vortigaunts to a big booby version of SCP-1471, though some places list the mod as SCP-1417, which is the Swiss Army Banana. This is actually impressive as the mouth moves with the voice, though there is some clipping through the tits.

Rini: That’s pretty funny. I mean, I’m gonna have to go look at 1471 because I haven’t looked at it in years.
Not all of the mods are for people. You can install Giant Titties Statue by GeneralEcchi, Ellie, and Lt. Rocky, which replaces the fountain in one of the plazas as well as the small busts of Breen. The original model is from the Left 4 Dead 2 workshop, but it’s obviously patterned off the Azura statue from Skyrim.

And now we get to the main event. Your sometime companion, Alyx Vance, daughter of one of your Black Mesa coworkers, Eli Vance. As she is the most prominent woman in the game, she has also been the focus of many of the nude mods. There is, however, one big problem I ran into. Most of the mods don’t work past the point where Alyx gets injured in Episode 2.
Oh. Spoilers!
Even though some of them claim to. They either revert to Alyx’s base model, or she disappears completely, leaving a floating data stick as the only way to know where she is.
Rini: So like a little USB drive is hopping around your area or something?
More or less, yeah.
Rini: That’s not ideal.
No, no it is not.
So this list is going to be divided into those that work up to Episode 2 and those that work during Episode 2.
Let’s start with Nude Alyx by AnotherDimension. This is a fairly straightforward mod that unfortunately shows some of its age by the patchiness of the skin texture, thanks to changes in the lighting. Still, leaving on her gloves, belt, and socks does give her the appearance of being functional.
However, Nude Alyx Asian.
Rini: Asian!
Also by AnotherDimension is completely naked with Asian features, though she doesn’t look extremely different from the base Alyx model.
Rini: If she was Blasian, that’d be cool because her dad’s black, right?
Yeah.
SCREEN TEXT: I cut the rest of the conversation because after some digging, I found Alyx’s mother was some flavor of Asian, though not specified. So Rini’s wish has been fulfilled.
Alyx Topless by Cory is on Nexus Mods and features Alyx mostly clothed, just with her shirt missing and slightly bustier than normal.
The last of the pre-Episode 2 mods, we have AleXXX by M Efyu on the Steam Workshop, which is like Topless Alyx, except the data stick is now stuck in her hand permanently.
But if you want a mod that works through Episode 2, we’ll start on that list. And since we left off with Steam Workshop mods, let’s go with [R18] Sexy Alyx Model (Version 3) by Ridge Racist Type 4.
Rini: Wow, okay. I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt, dude.
He doesn’t like Black Mesa.
Rini: Oh! Oh! ♪ Maybe Black Mesa? ♪
This is an extremely busty topless mod of Alyx. Also, it was with this mod that I found out that the Workshop mods will override manually inserted mods as well.
You can also have a set of mods under the banner Alyx assASSin.
Rini: Ass-ass-ass-ass-in.
By GamerEcchi, MidnightDragons, TheEmmy4501, and Romka. This uses the modded female Combine assassin body and has Alyx wear it with no pants.
Rini: ♪ Pants. ♪
The default alyx-ass17725 works fine except for weird markings on the left thigh. alyx-ass4acb1 tries to correct the markings with limited success. alyx-ass-4n1m3 gives Alyx, and I quote, “stupid anime hair”.
Rini: Sure, it’s an older mod, but it checks out. Yeah. Gotcha.
There’s another one called alyx-ass-P0ny, which gives the anime hair a long ponytail and also removes almost all of the markings. There’s a few others in the pack, but I’m not really interested in the panty mod.
For something a little more normal, you can get “Adriana Lima” Alyx nude mod by AntonToxa, which makes Alyx look like the Brazilian supermodel. She’s also got the jacket, boots, glove, and belt, much like the original Alyx nude mod, though with much more defined abs.
Rini: The abs are the important part.
And for some complete fucking weebery, Bottom heavy Jane Doe as Alyx by Hazeker and CheeseboiNo gives you Alyx as an anime-ish character from the Chinese free-to-play video game Zenless Zone Zero.
Rini: That’s a lot of Zs.
While it works well with the rigging, there are some problems with the lack of details on the skin to the point it looks blobby. Still fun for a giggle.
Continuing on that trend, there are a few Dr. Mossman replacers as well, including Bottom heavy Kai schulen as mossman by Hazeker and CheeseboiNo. This replaces the good doctor with a character from the Sega video game Valkyria Chronicles 4.
Rini: Wow, okay.
As with the Jane Doe mod, there is the problem of a lack of details on the skin, which, again, makes her look blobby.
Rini: Are those the ones that I was watching that looked really awful?
Uh-huh.
Rini: Oh, don’t use those mods, people. They were terrible. I mean, unless y’all really need to see some tits. Find better tits. That is my prescription. Find better tits.
Amazingly, the other video game replacer that actually works better is Rouge the bat as Mossman by highwizard and CheeseboiNo. This replaces Mossman with the character Rouge the Bat, a character from the Sonic games, starting with Sonic Adventure 2. Like the previous mods, there is a clothed version.
Rini: But why would you want a clothed version? I mean, let’s be honest.
But for our purposes, we’re concentrating on the topless mod.
Rini: Yay, boobies!
And lastly, there is a mod that actually takes care of multiple characters, simply named Nude Female Mod by Marina. I found this at the last minute on the website Modding Haven, which prides itself in having mods other sites don’t carry, usually for good reasons.
Rini: Oh, like naughty, naughty reasons?
Like Nazi reasons.
Rini: Oh, ew.
Yeah. Still, this is the only place that carries this mod. It removes most of the clothing on all of the women in the game from Alyx and Mossman to the various civilians and resistance fighters, also giving them more curvier bodies, though not to the extremes of the anime characters. The only problem I found so far is that it doesn’t work on Episode 2 for Alyx, so that’s one big ding against it. So that’s what I found that currently works in Half-Life 2. Hopefully we’ll be able to do a Half-Life 1 at some point.
