As we enter spooky season, I want to focus on a couple games that I’ve been holding onto for this time of the year. It is a story of blazing popularity, movies, remakes, and a brand that seems to have disappeared, along with some of the mods. The franchise is BloodRayne. The games are The Terminal Cuts 1 and 2.
Rini: Not an adjective I would have used.
Blazing popularity?
Rini: Yeah.
Why?
Rini: I’ve never thought of them as terribly popular. Maybe I’m wrong.
BloodRayne centers around Rayne, a dampire, half-human, half-vampire, with most of the strengths and some of the weaknesses, as sunlight and water won’t immediately kill her. She is hunting her vampire father, Kagan, who had raped her mother and later killed her entire family in an effort to force Rayne to join him.
Rini: Okay, oh my God, did Todd Howard just see this and go, Serana! And we can use the same voice actress!
She is recruited by the Brimstone Society.
Rini: Daughter of Cold Harbor.
And sent on missions to eliminate supernatural threats, including other vampires, in exchange for helping her track down her father.
Rini: Daughter of Cold Harbor.
On top of the video games, there are comic books, as well as three live-action movies, all directed by Uwe Boll, also of “House of the Dead” and “Postal” the movie fame.
Rini: It stinks.
I’ve only watched one of the films, and honestly, it was noteworthy for having the most boring lesbian sex scene I’d ever watch.
Rini: Which begs the question, how the fuck do you make a sex scene with Milla Jovovich be boring?
It wasn’t Milla Jovovich.

Rini: Okay, the Temu Milla Jovovich, then. Hot redhead.

Right, but in better news, Rayne has been listed as the first video game character to appear topless in Playboy, specifically in the October of 2004 issue, alongside other video game characters, and was featured on an MTV2 show called Video Mods, which had her performing Evanescence’s song “Everybody’s Fool”.
Rini: I mean, I didn’t know that.
This was a thing. They did videos for “Half-Life 2” and “Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude“, as well.
Rini: Wow.
I’ll have to show you these.
Rini: Okay, yeah, show that to me. That’s hilarious, I didn’t know about that.
The first game she appeared in, 2002’s BloodRayne, is set in the 1930s, just before World War II, where she is hunting monsters in Louisiana, and stumbles on a plot by the Nazis to resurrect a powerful being known as Beliar. She starts out with her mentor, a fellow vampire named Mynce, and eventually travels to Nazi bases in Argentina and Germany. We will be reviewing the Terminal Cut of BloodRayne from 2020, which was remastered to work with newer PCs. Unfortunately, this means that some original mods do not work with the new updated game.
Rini: Everybody, otherwise get out your old versions of Windows 7.
The main one you’re going to want is NudeMod Rayne and Mynce by returning champions Denadin and mcdyn. These textures have been upscaled for the Terminal Cut. First thing that you’ll notice is changes to the menu screen using the Playboy rendering of Rayne.
Rini: That’s cool.
The save load screen also has been changed to Rayne naked in a bed.
Rini: Also cool.
The mod affects three characters. It renders Rayne naked, except for her blades, her choker and necklace, and boots with red stockings.
Rini: I always find that funny because shoes are so important in apparel, especially when hunting vampires. Have good footwear.
As well as adding some tattoos. About the only thing to complain about is that her breasts are a little too pert and nipples centered, though it’s because they don’t change the character model. So it’s like her breasts are still supported by her costume.
Rini: Wouldn’t that be amazing? All the women out there, if you could have that look to your tits where they’re still like you’re wearing a really good comfy bra. If someone were to invent that, that would be like a Nobel Prize in material sciences. There we go. Someone to get on that.
This is a common problem when the nude mod is only texture-based and not model-based. Speaking of which, the nude mod also affects her mentor, Mynce, though less naked and more cutouts in all the right places. There is also a female Nazi character named the Butcheress, whose already open shirt is made more see-through to make her nipples visible.
Rini: Is she sexy? I don’t think I saw a picture of her.
Uh, she’s sexy like any evil Nazi…
Rini: llsa the She-Wolf?
Yeah.
Now, here’s where we run into a problem. I found two more “BloodRayne 1 Terminal Cut” mods, but the authors have since taken them down from the Nexus between when I originally downloaded them and now. I have the zip files and the means to put them back up, but I’m conflicted about doing that if the authors decided to take them down. So if the authors see this, let me know if you’d be up to seeing these put up on a site like Lover’s Lab or not. Meantime, I see no harm in simply showing them.
First up is Topless Rayne by Tyler š.
RIni: Smiley face D.
This removes Rayne’s top and long gloves, but leaves her tight leather pants on. They also added tattoos to this one as well, though this one is the Triple X from Vin Diesel. The opening screen has also been changed with Rayne crossing her arms over her bare chest.
Lastly, we have one called BloodRayne Full Nude Patch, author unknown. In this one, the opening screen is the original game art, but the save load screen is a custom bit of fully naked Rayne, while letting you know about the patch. Rayne’s appearance in this one is mostly the same as the Nude Mod Rayne and Mynce, but she’s missing the red stockings. Also, Mynce doesn’t get naked in this one either.
Rini: That’s a shame.

BloodRayne 2 originally came out in 2004, and takes place in the modern day, a good 70 years since the events of the first game. A flashback shows Rayne helps dispatch her father Kagan, but now she is hunting her half-siblings, who have banded together to form the Cult of Kagan, intent on continuing their father’s work to establish vampire dominance.
Rini: This is severely some interpersonal, codependent family dynamics that they really ought to work through, just saying.
Again, we are looking at the Terminal Cut that came out in 2020, though this time some of the original mods will work with the remaster, as the game is already enhanced compared to the first BloodRayne. Now, one thing I have to mention is that the first level in the mansion was released as an early demo. As such, modders had a field day with modding her appearance in the game. But on the bad side, these mods won’t work with the full game. A big reason is that they require an included BR Mod Manager that no longer works, so I’m covering the mods that actually work with the full game.
Rini: That’s a shame.
The first one to see is Nude Mod Rayne by mcdyn. This one comes in two versions. Version One has Rayne shaved while wearing a red garter belt, plus the ends of her long gloves. And Version Two looks pretty much the same, but Rayne has had fishnets attached to the garter belts and glove ends. An amusing side effect is that some of the female vampire minions lose their skirts as well. But there are no details below the waist, just smooth Barbie doll crotches.
Rini: Oh, no, whatever shall we do? I am clenching my pearls… that have come out of my vagina. Or maybe it’s my ass, I don’t know. Oh, that’s where they went.

If you want something different, there’s Naughty Bitch 1.0 by NeXus. This is much like the Nude Mod Rayne, but it’s missing the red garter belt and Rayne isn’t missing her pubic hair. Also, the female vampire minions retain their skirts.
Once you are done with the mansion, you can deal with the main quest and start out with Blood Rayne 2 Nude Standard by Denadin. This removes most of Rayne’s outfit, leaving only her long gloves, boots, choker, and necklace, along with her red pubic hair.
Rini: Hey, the drapes match the carpet.
Yep! You can see some of the shading where her clothing was supposed to be, but it’s usually not noticeable as you’re fighting. This will be common in the next mods.
Next up is Naughty Rayne by lokilife. Rayne has most of her clothing in this one, just cutouts exposing her breasts and pubes. Same problem with the first nude mod in that you can see where her clothing was supposed to be. Still, this is my preferred look for Rayne as it has the illusion of still being functional.
Rini: Yep, having your tits hang out is totally functional.
Rayne is not the only one who gets exposed. Her half-sister, Ferril, also gets the treatment with Wicked Feral (sic), also by lokilife. This removes any censoring, but leaves her moving tattoos, making for an even eerier look.
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to run all these mods at once. You’ll have to swap out the mansion dress mod for a different mod if you want Rayne’s appearance to change. Someone, however, did pack multiple mods into the Uncut Nude Patch, which puts together the Naughty Rayne and Wicked Feral nude mods into one complete package.
Rini: Can I make another joke about package?
So this is all there is available for the 3D Bloodrayne series so far. There is a side-scroller called Bloodrayne Betrayal with an updated version subtitled Fresh Bites, but there are no nude mods, or indeed any mods available, outside of cheat mods.
Meantime, while there hasn’t been much of any new official releases, Rayne has obviously not been forgotten, given how many mods have been made to insert her, or at least her outfit, into various games. Fortunately, in 2020, Ziggurat Interactive bought the rights to the Bloodrayne franchise and is looking to revive the series. Here’s to hoping.
Rini: What I find funny about this is Laura Bailey doing the voice of Bloodrayne, and of course Laura Bailey doing the famous Skyrim vampire, Serana. And if you go and listen to it, it’s the exact same freaking voice, I swear to God.
She has one low voice like this, and it’s in her Serana voice, and it’s in the Bloodrayne voice, and it always sounds like this, and it’s always this kind of slightly bored voice.
“Hi, so I’m the daughter of Cold Harbor. No, I’m not going to bite you and make another vampire. You obviously didn’t hear me.”
Anyways, that was my Laura Bailey impression.
“I’m Chester, I’m just a little blue tiefling.”
